Search & Rescue
Questions
1. State the assignment (problem/project) in your own words.
The objective of this project is to create a robot that will go into another room, retrieve the object, and bring it back to you.
2. What are your input factors? (What do you need to know or do before you can begin?) Include the research you did.
We needed to know how to control the remote in which would be directing the robot.
3. Describe the process in detail. Explain the steps you followed in order to complete the project.
First, we added the 2 motors to the back of the robot and added a little wheel system in the front. Next, we created a little plow making the plow help us to retrieve the object placed in the other room. Then, we created a camera mount so the camera wouldn't fall out and will be nice and steady. We had to remove our plow because the teacher gave specific instructions that we had to "grab" the water bottle. We then created a claw in which was controlled by a motor grab the water bottle and return it back to us. We tested the product and it worked perfectly. The controller was very difficult to get used too and that is shown in the video. However, we did complete this project and the claw was perfectly constructed to grab the water bottle and return it to us.
4. Describe the final output / product in detail: (what are we looking at?)
You are looking at a robot that has a camera placed above the power button of the robot, a claw and motor on the left side in which will grab the water bottle and bring it back to us.
5. Describe feedback you received during the project (suggestions, comments, etc). From peers, instructor ect.. How did you use this feedback to correct issues with your project? We were told by the teacher to reconstruct because we had to grab the water bottle and a plow would not work. As a group we collaborated and came up with the design of the claw.
6. What did you learn during the assignment such as tools, skills, design concepts, software, hardware, etc?
I leaned how to remotely control the nxt robot and how to create a claw.
7. If you were to do the project again, what would you do differently and why? Provide reasons and examples
I would have listened to directions and clearly understood them. This set us back from the rest of the groups because we had to redevelop our ideas and come up with a way to grab the water bottle. It took some time but, we go it done and it worked perfectly.

Prototype #2
We did NOT change....
Final Product
This is a picture of what the final prototype looks like. We made a few changes and now my group and I have to test the robot out.
Video
A program was not needed in this assignment. The robot was controlled by a remote control.
